Is this an official government app?
No. MotoDocs JA is an independent product by DevForge Agency. CGDS fetch uses Jamaica’s public certificate portal to retrieve documents you are entitled to pull with your own certificate details.
Is it free?
Yes. The core vault is free — your documents, CGDS fetch, expiry reminders, Officer Mode, the renewals guide, and licence and ticket checks — with a small banner ad on the Garage screen. MotoDocs Plus is optional: monthly or yearly, cancel anytime.
What is MotoDocs Plus?
An optional subscription, monthly or yearly, that removes ads and unlocks the maintenance log, a service plan matched to your car with odometer check-ins, and the fuel log with consumption analytics. Cancel anytime. If you bought Hide Ads before, you get Plus free.
Do my documents leave my phone?
Day-to-day vault storage is on-device and encrypted. Documents leave the device only when you deliberately export a PIN-locked .motodoc package, create a rental pass, or share a file. Your licence details are only sent to the Government of Jamaica ticket portal when you look up tickets.
What if I lose my phone?
Treat the vault like a secure local wallet. Export backups to a safe place when your documents change. Biometrics protect open access on the device.
Does it work offline?
Yes for viewing, storing and Officer Mode. CGDS fetch, ticket checks and insurance quote links need a connection.
Which documents are supported?
Registration (eMVRC), Certificate of Fitness and Insurance Certificate for every vehicle, plus your driver’s licence (front and back). Red-plate and green-plate vehicles can also keep their Transport Authority licence — the PPV road licence or the carrier licence.
Does it handle red and green plates?
Yes. Type the plate and MotoDocs JA picks the class — private, public passenger (PPV), commercial, rental, dealer and more — and shows it in the right colours in Officer Mode.
Can I check for traffic tickets?
Yes. Add your driver’s licence details once and MotoDocs JA checks the Government of Jamaica ticket portal for you. Turn on new-ticket alerts and it re-checks when you come back to the app, about every 6 hours. Outstanding tickets can be paid online through TAJ.
How does the renewals guide work?
For each vehicle, MotoDocs JA lists what to renew and in what order — insurance and fitness first, because TAJ checks them before registration. For online registration renewal it shows the exact details to enter at jamaicatax.gov.jm, with copy buttons; for fitness it tells you what to bring to the ITA depot.
Can I lend or rent out my car with the papers?
Yes. Create a rental pass and the renter sees the documents you choose until the pass ends. You can revoke it any time — right away if the renter is online, and within 12 hours if their phone is offline.
What is a Certificate of Fitness in Jamaica?
A Certificate of Fitness (COF) proves your vehicle passed inspection and is roadworthy. It is required alongside registration and insurance at police stops. MotoDocs JA stores your COF, fetches e-Fitness from CGDS, and reminds you before expiry.
How do I get my fitness certificate from CGDS?
Use cgds.gov.jm or MotoDocs JA’s Fetch from CGDS with your certificate number and chassis number. The official e-Fitness PDF is saved encrypted on your phone.
What is eMVRC in Jamaica?
eMVRC is the electronic Motor Vehicle Registration Certificate from CGDS. It proves your vehicle is registered with Tax Administration Jamaica. MotoDocs JA stores and fetches it using your certificate number and MVID.
Can I use MotoDocs JA at a police stop?
Yes. Officer Mode shows registration, fitness, or insurance full-screen with your plate visible, screen wake lock, and screenshot protection — built for roadside checks in Jamaica.
