Privacy Policy

MotoDocs JA is designed to keep your vehicle documents encrypted on your device. Day-to-day vault storage does not require a cloud account. Documents leave your phone only when you deliberately share or export them, or when you use optional online features such as CGDS certificate fetch or an insurance quote link.

2.1 On-device vault data (stored locally)

The App stores, on your device, vehicle details you enter (for example make, model, year, colour, licence plate, and chassis number) and document files you add — Registration (eMVRC), Certificate of Fitness, and Insurance Certificate — including related metadata such as expiry dates. Document files are encrypted with AES. Vault metadata is kept in an encrypted local store. Encryption keys are held in the platform secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore) via OS-backed secure storage.

Optional on-device text recognition may help extract expiry and certificate metadata when you scan a document. That processing happens on your device for the scanning workflow.

2.2 Biometrics and device lock

You may unlock the vault with Face ID, fingerprint, or your device passcode. Biometric data stays under the control of your device’s operating system; the App uses the platform biometric / credential APIs to gate access and does not receive your biometric templates.

2.3 Data you send when using online features

• CGDS fetch. When you choose “Fetch from CGDS,” the App sends the certificate details you provide (for fitness: certificate number and chassis number; for registration / eMVRC: certificate or receipt number and Motor Vehicle ID) over HTTPS to Jamaica’s public CGDS portal (cgds.gov.jm) to retrieve the official PDF you request. We do not operate CGDS; their handling of those requests is governed by their own terms and practices.
• Insurance renewal links. When insurance is nearing expiry, the App may offer a path to request a quote via MIBinsure (mibinsure.com). Following that link takes you to a third-party site subject to their privacy policy.
• Shared packages. If you export a .motodoc file, the package is AES-encrypted and locked with a PIN you set before it leaves the device. Recipients import it into their own copy of MotoDocs JA with that PIN. Sharing uses your device’s system share sheet; we do not receive the shared file unless you send it to us yourself (for example for support).

2.4 Advertising

The App is free and may show a non-intrusive adaptive banner ad on the home screen via Google AdMob. Advertising partners may collect device and usage identifiers in accordance with their policies and your OS-level privacy settings (including App Tracking Transparency on iOS where applicable). 2.5 This website

Our marketing site is hosted on Vercel. Standard hosting logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) may be processed by the host to operate and secure the site. We do not require an account to browse this site.

• Provide the vault, reminders (scheduled in America/Jamaica time), Officer Mode presentation, and import/export features you request
• Perform CGDS retrieval and open third-party renewal links when you initiate those actions
• Display advertising that funds the free app
• Improve reliability and security of the App and website (including optional on-device integrity checks such as SHA-256 hashes of stored files)
• Respond if you contact us for support

• We do not require a MotoDocs cloud account to use the local vault
• We do not upload your document vault to our servers as part of normal app use
• We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Government of Jamaica, Tax Administration Jamaica, or the CGDS portal

Vault contents remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App. Uninstalling removes the App’s local data on that device, subject to your operating system’s behaviour. Exported .motodoc files and any copies you share exist wherever you chose to send or store them — treat them like sensitive offline backups.

If you lose your phone, the vault behaves like a secure local wallet: protect the device, use biometrics, and keep your own exports in a safe place when documents change.

The App is intended for vehicle owners and drivers who need to manage motor documents. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

The App is built with a Jamaica focus (CGDS fetch, Jamaica-time reminders, local plates). If you use the App or this site from elsewhere, your information may be processed in the countries where you, your device, or our service providers (including hosting and advertising) operate.

• You control which documents and vehicles you store and when to fetch, share, or delete them
• You can refuse biometrics and use your device passcode instead, where the OS allows
• You can limit ad-related tracking through iOS / Android privacy settings and, where offered, in-app or OS permission prompts
• You can stop using CGDS fetch or third-party quote links; core vault viewing and storage still work offline

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App or site after an update means you accept the revised policy, except where applicable law requires additional consent.
